This edition of this book is another edition that I recommend to all C programmers and I already own and have read several times the 2nd and 3rd editions. It is not really a book on how to program in C per se there are many excellent books on this subject, such as Programming Microsoft Visual C Sep 02, Igor Celik rated it it was amazing. This is one of those books where I feel like I learned something new on just about every page, and I’m a fairly experienced developer. Combining bottom-up and top-down learning is quite powerful! NET topics coverage is extensive and full of hard-to-find-elsewhere insights on important design rationales that led Microsoft to design and implement. You can tell he’s still completely turned on by the CLR, he loves it but retains room for its criticism where he sees fit which is rare, but justifiably scathing at times.

This book provides amazing depth, giving developers a bottom-up education, rather than the top-down approach like most books. NET developers who want to understand how. I gave it a three stars because I found myself really board at times. This is one of those books where I feel like I learned something new on just about every page, and I’m a fairly experienced developer.

This is certainly not the case, you may feel educated in certain topics like type fundamentals, but Mr. Jeffrey Richter offers in-depth research and clear explanations of CLR. He puts a lot of time into talking about strings and very good chapters on delegates and IDiposable and the garbage collection life cycle, as well as quite a lot on Custom Attributes. The book isn’t perfect it has no bibliography, no end of chapter questions, and no glossary of rlchter but it is readable, authoritative, and very clear.
