Every once in a rare while, a book comes along that succeeds in all departments–characterization, narration, ideology, execution.
This is a book about rape. He moved his face close to hers and licked at some of her tears.
To call this story unique is an understatement. There was something about the way this was written that allowed me to see everything that was occurring, but allowed me to detach myself from it.

It makes rape REAL. A victim; who questions with defiance yet with the respect necessary for her situation. She comes up with a plan early on and throughout we get to learn about her life, her child and her husband. We never learn their names, we never learn who they were b.g.harldn exactly.
With vivid scenes of rape, humiliation and abuse I was hooked! Read it and find out for yourself but trust me when I say this is not an easy read. View all 24 comments. There is a lot of psychological mind games which got a bit too much for me.
There are many questions raised by this story.

I literally finished this hrs ago, but I just couldn’t bring myself to update my status, because my emotions were all over the place, so I put on my big girl draws and did it.
I really liked this book. The book starts with the victim waking up while the intruder is busy raping her and she is held down so that she can barely even breathe. Wow, not your usual novel. What the hell did i just read! I would recommend it to all of you who b.g.haroen dark, twisted, mindfucking, thougths provoking books. Who are her people?? This whole book is played out in ab This b.g.haren a dark read Is it because society tells us that that we should guard our bodies and that they are ours to control. He on the other hand, made me feel so many different emotions.

But the fact that it happened and that I read what I read and that I had to fight against my own self as I read this is the most interesting experience of it all. Harlen wants to read. No reasoning why he bb.g.harlen hired to b.g.hsrlen her down. Over time, there are tidbits from the victim’s past that are shared with readers, but never enough to understand why she was targeted for this crime.
It was smart and they tied in so many references to pop culture. Or is it the very aspect that rape revolves around the involuntary submission of power.
